Trip to New York, the City of Dreams
The flamboyance and environment of New York can charm anyone, it is the heart of the world, the city of dreams. Every time I travel New York, it left me craving for more. Skyscrapers, amazing nightlife, good food, museums and amazingly beautiful parks. I visited New York early this summer and the city was beautiful and young as always.
But, being a world-class city, the trip to New York can create a big hole in your pocket, so it’s very important to plan everything in advance, from the place you are going to visit the budget you are going to spend. Based on my personal experience, I would advise you to cover all the major attractions of the city by opting smart ways of saving money.
The Travelers' Guide to Saving
The true vibe of NYC can be enjoyed for free simply by walking around the streets and visiting places that are free. New York also offers passes for different requirements of a traveler such as passes for local commuting, and for visiting different attractions around the city etc. Along with the travel passes, hostels and shared rooms around the city can be your savior in saving money for accommodation because even a small hotel in New York can cost you the big fancy amount.
It’s good to carry a map of the city, otherwise, your smart device can also assist in guiding directions with the official guide website of NYC. Look out for things that you can enjoy free or at very low cost on some specific days or timings, since many museums offer free entry on specific days and restaurants offer happy hours on specific timings. Overall, a bit of research and knowledge is required to save big.
Explore New York
New York has something to offer for everyone, some of its most famous destinations include Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Museum of art, radio city music hall, beautiful churches, Wall Street, Times Square etc. But, two of my favorite places include Central Park and Times Square. Two totally different places but beautiful in their own ways. On one hand, the greenery of the central park seems like a bliss in the middle of a busy city, there, on the other hand, the liveliness of Times Square makes you feel on the top of the world.
While exploring the real New York by wandering around the city, you can go from east side to the west side and give your eyes a treat of architectural beauty with buildings like Grand Central Station, Union Square, Chrysler building, New York Times building etc. An entire day can be spent just by roaming around on the streets of New York.
A Shoppers' Paradise
There are some things you can’t miss if you are visiting New York for the first time, and that includes a list of markets such as Smorgasburg, Brooklyn Flea, Queens Night Market, Chelsea Market etc. These markets offer a mix of culture, variety of food and day to day essentials. I make sure to never miss on shopping whenever I travel to New York.
This time I bought Freedom in Stone a pair of OTBT comfortable wedges for myself, (I also mentioned the image below) truly the kind of wedges I was looking for, stylish, durable, comfortable, made of real leather and most importantly they fitted in my budget.
So, keep your shopping list ready if you are planning to visit New York because you can grab some really good stuff from here. The malls and shopping destinations that you can’t miss are Westfield World Trade Center, Garden State Plaza, Brookfield Place, Manhattan Mall, Garden State Plaza mall etc.
New York is a well-connected city, almost every major airline travel here from all around the world. But, make sure when you arrive here, buy a local weekly magazine to stay updated about the latest activities going to happen in the city for the entire week. It would also let you know about the latest movie releases and their reviews. So, be a smart traveler and always travel in style.
